I have a declaration which I downloaded, to state in ” legal speak,” that I do not want a smart meter, and this letter is recommended to be sent off to the relevant electric and gas utility company.
I was anxious that the installation men with the meters would not turn up one day unannounced as they tend to do across the ocean. However I did not send it off, but telephoned an enquiry first.
I am very pleased, because my utility company is going to wait to hear what the Government have to say, and in any case we will be notified by this particular company prior to the ” roll out,” of Smart Meters, as it is described. I moved to this company as a result of a collaboration between the Consumers Association ” Which” in the UK, and the action group ” 38 Degrees”. where, as a result of having seen prices of fuel reduced on the Continent ( Europe) by bulk switching, we took part in the same, and we all transferred to gether to the company with the best tarrifs. We had our prices frozen this year, and there is a small price increase for next year, I thought that you might well be interested in my findings?

I have come across something today which I find hard to believe.

The headline goes like this ” British MPs told of Smart meter risks: UK rollout delayed by over a year “
I suppose it is possible that this is what lay behind the information from the utility company about waiting to hear what the Government decides?

Alert! Smart Meters coming?
A year later and I haven`t heard anything yet. However, this message is for anyone living in the UK, which is the place which the comments above are for.
The largest power utility Company is advertising free electricity on Saturdays. Now how are they going to know how much electricity anyone uses on a certain day of the week?
Well this was discussed elsewhere, and what they suggest makes sense to me…this is how to start installing smart meters into unsuspecting customers homes with ease.
In addition, this sweetener may not last. So the early response customers will end up paying in the usual way for usage all of the time, and will be stuck with the meters.
