Another marathon edition, with some encouraging developments this week. Environmental Health Trust has been busy again.

‘When I realized that similar frequencies and powers that were used as weapons during the Cold War were being used as WI-FI in schools, I decided to come out of retirement and travel around the world free of charge and explain exactly what the problem is going to be in the future.’
Barrie Trower, former military microwave weapons specialist

Good News from Cyprus – several gold stars for their initiatives to remove wifi from schools and to educate parents about the risks. It seems they have had some success. Their approach addresses politicians, decision makers and parents.

The actual presentations

Here’s one of their videos.

…..culminating in a victory for capaigners and for common sense

It appears that this is an order – not a recommendation or advice.

Maryland, too. Just recommendations this time.

And Hong Kong
http://www.scmp.com/news/hong-…..hten-rules

Whereas in Paris they are just pretending. Will reducing exposure from 7 v/m to 5 v/m really make any difference to anything?

Trevor Marshall’s comment
‘This change is NOTHING. A 10dB (90%) reduction might help, but 30% is NOTHING compared to the 90dB sensitivity of the human body’
Presumably Salzburg doesn’t count as one of the ‘main European cities’ they compare themselves with. Salzburg does have serious, stringent limits.

…..and Israel is mired in conflicting advice from different agencies, none of whom seem to be prepared to take responsibility……
– covered towards the end of the presentation – slide 45 in the PDF (http://ehtrust.org/wp-content/…..-Stein.pdf)

Extensive coverage of California Health Dept refusing to release cell phone safety guidelines. Here’s a selection

Joel Moskowitz On Twitter – link to Microwave News article about the CDC’s advice (cited as an excuse not to publish the document)
‘What took so long? asks SFC. CDC was on the case, said CA health But @CDCgov also folded, under pressure from NCRP http://bit.ly/1sIgHCQ
More about the CDC’s advice – http://ehtrust.org/policy/cdc-…..es-health/
The actual document probably seems relatively inoffensive to anyone who has been following the cellphone controversy. It simply reiterates advice which is widely available elsewhere (including the main site here). But it might come as surprise to people who don’t know or would prefer not to know.
Credit to Joel Moskowitz for his persistence and for getting a result.

Update on International activity from EHT – useful campaign material

EHT on children’s brain development and EMF’s. Features several videos including Martha Herbert.

5G
Health risks –

Millimeter wave weapon
http://jnlwp.defense.gov/About…..stem-FAQs/ Strange but appropriate name – ‘Active Denial system’
The frequency used is right in the middle of the proposed 5G spectrum, but…..
“we are very confident there will be no long-term adverse side effects”. The document refers mainly to ‘short-term’ effects. Maybe relevant to a weapon, but not to other types of exposure.
EHT is not convinced – ‘??? …’ (via Twitter)
So there are no ‘side-effects’ from a frequency used for 5G which is also used as a weapon?
Just like wifi perhaps – see Barrie Trower quote above.
“Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.” Maybe we’ll be lucky and history will not repeat itself on this occasion.

Book-burning and EMF science
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C5w2Z4pU8AA_5uz.jpg
But Prof Marshall had the foresight to take action
‘They BURNT all these books, but my copy survived! Proc NY Acad Sc 1975: 545pp; 48 papers on how Waves affect Biology http://bit.ly/2mmr6Rx

– edited highlights from the Jerusalem expert forum (featured last week). Nearly 2 hours, but I found it useful to help me decide which presentations to watch in full.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/scienc…..by-9935251 – widely covered on Twitter, including by EHT. Slightly surprising in view of the amount of industry-speak quoted, and the emphasis on ‘existing safety limits’.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C51mlgfWYAAsRav.jpg – nice summary of advice from AAP.

Devra Davis on ‘Neurological, Developmental and Reproductive Impacts of Wireless’

http://www.thinkspain.com/news…..n-says-who – depression, especially in Spain. Could it be related to the national obsession with wireless technology?

Papers
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28240792 – small cells conform to ICNIRP guidelines – so we’re all OK

http://www.cancerjournal.net/a…..ulast=Wang – Chinese study confirming cancer risk from phones
Also noted by Microwave News – http://microwavenews.com/paper…..a-analysis
and Trevor Marshall
‘3rd new meta-analysis points to a brain ca risk after yrs of cell phone use From China http://bit.ly/2lqrSRi We ignore them at our peril.’

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28257069 base station exposure – implies that it’s ‘low’ and within ICNIRP guidelines….

And finally……

Car maintenance and data privacy. It seems that cars are becoming wireless hot spots – not good news for EHS sufferers or for road safety
http://www.bbc.com/news/busine…..s-39103150
Good to read that the Eurocrats are on the case!
