More than half of British children aged between five and nine years old own a mobile phone.
A recent study has revealed that children and teenagers are five times more likely to brain cancer if they use mobile phones.
Children are more at risk to the electromagnetic fields generated by mobile phones because their heads are smaller and their skulls are thinner the radiation penetrates more easily and deeply into their brains. Also their brains and nervous systems are more vulnerable because they are still developing.
Professor Lennart Hardell of Orebro in Sweden, found that people who started mobile phone use before the age of 20 had five times more chance of getting a cancer of the glial cells .
Dr. Ronald Herberman of Toronto’s Department of public health has issued a statement advising children to use mobile phones for emergencies only , and tends to limit their use to 10 minutes.
Worse still, as Dr. Michrowski points out, cancer is only the tip of the iceberg . “Birth defects, decreased immunity to disease, even sicknesses have been linked to extend the exposure to electromagnetic fields of specific frequencies and intensities”. Certain allergies have also been linked to mobile phone use and even depression.
And yet despite all this, a recent poll by Populous has found that the number of parents believe that it is acceptable to allow a children under 12 to own a mobile phone has increased by more than a third in a period of 12 months. It makes you wonder where parents are getting their information?
